If you've ever had a smooth experience browsing the Invizi website, there's a good chance Daniel has had something to do with it.
As part of our IT and Shopify team, Daniel spends his days building, fixing, improving and finding better ways for things to work behind the scenes. But when he's not creating systems and solving technical problems, you'll usually find him creating something else entirely… whether that's a homemade lasagne, a painting, a new recipe, or even a deck.
Always Building Something
When asked to describe himself, one theme comes up again and again… helping people.
Daniel genuinely enjoys spending his time doing things for others and finds a lot of satisfaction in helping through action. Whether that's lending a hand with a project, cooking a meal for someone he cares about, or improving a process at work, he likes knowing he's made someone's day a little easier.
Cooking is one of his biggest passions. His favourite recipe? A 24-hour ragu lasagne complete with homemade pasta sheets and, naturally, a full bottle of wine in the sauce.
"It’s rewarding making things from scratch," he explains.
He's always experimenting with new recipes and enjoys the process just as much as the final result.

At home, he shares life with his girlfriend Annie, an interior architect. Together they enjoy playing card games, with a game called 3 Down, 3 Up currently holding the title of favourite.
He's also learning Japanese ahead of an upcoming trip. Having visited Japan before, Daniel is looking forward to returning, especially for the snowboarding.
The Creative Side You Might Not Expect
One thing many people don't know about Daniel is that he's a talented painter. It's not because he keeps it a secret. He just doesn't tend to show his work off, gifting most of his paintings to him mum.
His love of painting started in high school when a teacher saw potential in his work and encouraged him to pursue it. That encouragement stuck.
These days, painting remains one of his many creative outlets.
"When I start, I won't stop."
While painting might surprise some people, those who know Daniel well probably wouldn't be shocked. He's the kind of person who's always picking up a new skill, often described as being “consistently busy”.
Over the years he's learned everything from deck building, framing and roofing to pottery and farm work.
You could say he's a bit of a man of all trades.
Meet Bento, Sausage and Sizzle
Like many of us at Invizi, Daniel is also a devoted pet parent. He shares his home with three cats: Bento, Sausage and Sizzle.
Sausage and Sizzle joined the family somewhat unexpectedly after Daniel stumbled across a charity event at Bunnings. He wasn't planning on bringing home any cats that day, but as he puts it, they were sitting in their enclosure being "very, very cute".
The decision was pretty much made when he picked up Sausage and "he cuddled into my arm."

Bento's story is a little different. He simply appeared on Daniel's doorstep a few years ago and never really left. These days, Bento is slowly becoming friends with his younger housemates and remains a big fan of belly rubs.
When asked if he has a favourite animal, Daniel doesn't hesitate.
He loves them all.
As he puts it, all animals are incredibly clever and one quote that has always stuck with him comes from The Imitation Game:
"Just because something thinks differently to you, doesn't mean that it's not thinking."

Building Better Experiences at Invizi
Daniel has been part of the Invizi team for almost a year and a half and enjoys the unique mix of technology, problem-solving and purpose that comes with the role.
One of the things he values most is being able to combine his Shopify expertise with coding and IT skills while helping improve experiences for people navigating a sensitive topic.
What stands out most to him, though, is Invizi's approach to customers.
"The customer comes first."
Rather than focusing on becoming the biggest store or finding ways to maximise sales, Daniel appreciates that the team focuses on making things genuinely easier for customers. It's about creating a better website experience, improving accessibility and helping people find the support they need.
Over the last few months, much of his focus has been on helping build Invizi's new website, ensuring the design, functionality and overall customer journey work as smoothly as possible.
Like most things Daniel enjoys, it's another opportunity to build something useful.
A Favourite Invizi Memory
When asked about his favourite memory at Invizi so far, Daniel doesn't mention a project or website launch.
Instead, he remembers a team lunch.
Everyone brought along a dish to share before gathering outside on the balcony in the sunshine around the BBQ.
"It felt like a family Christmas lunch" and was "really quite sweet" he recalls.
For the next team lunch, Daniel has plans to bring one of his specialties: the "Tokyo Slice" pizza. While we managed to uncover a few ingredients, including sweet pork belly, Japanese red spice sauce, Italian sauce, and spring onion… we'll stop there before we accidentally reveal any trade secrets.

What He's Learned Along the Way
One thing Daniel has discovered about himself over the last few years is just how much he enjoys being part of a team. He likes the sense of shared achievement that comes from working towards the same goal and contributing to projects together.
For him, it's not just about the work itself. It's about knowing everyone is contributing, supporting one another and recognising each other's efforts along the way.
Daniel's Advice
When asked what advice he'd give our readers, his answer was immediate:
"Never give yourself any extra work to do."
His philosophy is simple. When a task feels difficult, it's tempting to put it off until later. But often that just creates more work for your future self. Taking the time to finish something properly now can save stress later and leave you with the satisfaction of knowing it's done.
Not a bad philosophy for work, life, and perhaps even homemade lasagne.
